Beer-washed Rind vegan cheese: the deliberately decadent, older sibling of our ever popular Camembert.
Get ready to be transported to a pristine Norwegian forest – the gentle scent of pine-needles lingers as you take a leisurely stroll through the spruce trees, knowing that back at the lodge your beers are chilling on ice. This is the magic of our cashew-based vegan cheese with a gluten-free beer-washed rind 🍻
Our cashew based vegan cheese is lightly washed with gluten-free ale throughout the ageing process, which is partly what contributes to the earthy, rich flavour that you’ll find in this dairy-free delight. But really, it is the spruce bark which holds the key to its unique and fragrant earthiness. As the cheese matures, the spruce wrap imparts a natural smokiness throughout that increases with age. It’s a remarkable flavour experience!
But of course our plant-based cheese isn’t just delicious – it’s also made with the highest quality ingredients – as are all of Mouse’s Favourite’s products. We use only the finest whole cashews to create a creamy, rich base. And because it’s vegan, you can indulge in this cheese alternative without any guilt or worry about animal products.
Inspired by the look of a Vacherin or Mont D’Or, our cheese is a visual sensation that is sure to impress your guests. Whether you’re serving it as part of a cheese board or using it as a centrepiece for a special occasion, our Beer-washed Rind is sure to be a hit.
Special Order:
Naturally, our Beer-Washed Rind looks sensational as a big wheel – just get in touch!
To Serve:
You can freeze our Beer-Washed Rind, but we really recommend eating it fresh. It will still taste great once defrosted, but the rind will be less fluffy.
Pair with:
🍴 Vegan pastrami, pickled walnuts, naturally fermented Torshi.
🍺 Unfiltered German lager or a strong Belgian ale. A smoky red Carmanère.
Cook:
🥄 Beer-washed Rind is honestly best eaten straight up. To appreciate the full complexity of alpine, creamy and surprising smoky flavours just cut yourself a generous chunk and go.
Marian –
I tried this one for a family party because I wanted something a bit extra to impress my non vegan relatives – it worked 😉
It’s very creamy and slightly smoky. I had left overs which I kept longer than recommended and it ended up tasting like a German smoked cheese. Really good!
